The Cardboard Lounge Chair
As a National Chair Affair competitor, a yearly competition held by the American Institute of Architecture Students along with the International Corrugated Packaging Foundation. My partner, Valerie DeMattei and I wanted to convey a different message about the look of a regular chair. Our main goal was to test its limitations dealing with both loads added to the chair and its design. Holding up to 550 lbs., this lounge chair made out of corrugated cardboard and hot glue exceeded our expectations.
Currently being exhibited at the College of San Mateo Math and Science Division Building, we were extatic to auction off the piece and donate the money to the American Institute of Architecture Students, College of San Mateo Chapter.
